MCFARLAND - Monroe senior Mike Rear pitched a complete game and led the Cheesemakers to a 6-2 baseball win over McFarland on Friday.
Rear gave up just two runs on six hits. He struck out seven and walked one.
"When you don't make any errors and walk only one, it will take a lot of hits to beat you," Monroe coach Steve Christensen said.
Monroe (5-6, 3-1 Badger South) scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-2 lead.
"Once we scored those three runs in the fourth, we just kind of slammed the door on them," Christensen said.
Monroe senior Alex Dammen went 2-for-4 to lead the Cheesemakers. Dammen had a clutch RBI double in the fourth. Monroe senior Mike Demianiuk followed with an RBI single.
Monroe will host Oregon at 5 p.m. Monday in a rescheduled game.
