MONROE - While the Mat Rats' 20 wrestlers split into three different directions last weekend, they all returned to Green County with solid results.
Fourteen Rats comprised the biggest pack that headed to Janesville and five earned gold medals. Sam Kind cleaned up in his K-2nd ladder, while Traiten Gorr and Jacob Kind followed suit in their 3rd-4th categories. Ryan Hughes won his 5th-6th ladder and Trevor Gorr prevailed among his 7th-8th grade peers.
Reave Lincoln earned a 7th-8th level silver medal and Terri Holmes (5th-6th), Nick Poirier (5th-6th), Dusty Burkhalter (7th-8th), Aaron Hesgard (7th-8th) and Kevin Klopfenstein (7th-8th) all took third-place honors.
Brayden Zettle (K-2nd) took the only top honor in Mineral Point on Sunday and Dempzy Foley took second in the same category.
Hayden Arneson and McKenzy Foley both took seconds in their 3rd-4th ladders and Kodie Skogen earned a fourth in said group.
Austin Skogen and Eric Timm also earned fourth-place honors in their 5th-6th division.
Graham Kuckuk, the lone Mat Rat in Poynette's tournament Feb. 1, took third place in the K-2nd grade division.
