MONROE - Daunting weather and slippery passages didn't keep 17 Mat Rats from doing their thing at two area wrestling tournaments last weekend.

Just one grappler, Aaron Hesgard, flew a solo mission at Reedsburg on Sunday and placed second in his 7th-8th division.

The other Green County Family YMCA 16 athletes cleaned up at Mount Horeb. Troy Gorr earned the greatest spoils by winning his 5th-6th ladder, while Nick Poirier took a second-place finish in that category.

In the K-2nd level, Owen Boss and Brayden Zettle both earned second-place honors and Dempzy Foley took third.

Cole Murray, Jacob Ellefson, McKenzy Foley, Traiten Gorr and Sky McGregor all took seconds among their 3rd-4th competition, while Gavin Jordan and Thomas Reilly placed third and Hayden Arneson took fourth.

Silver medals were all the rave in the 7th-8th level as Dusty Burkhalter, Trevor Gorr and Kevin Klopfenstein all took second-place honors.

The Rats next travel to Belleville and Sauk Prairie this weekend.
