REEDSBURG - Monroe boys tennis coach Brad Saugstad did something Thursday that his predecessor Jim Barthoff did 365 times over 44 years - win a dual match. The new Cheesemaker tennis coach got his first conference victory as Monroe defeated Reedsburg 4-1 in a ran-shortened Badger Conference crossover tennis match.
Monroe took three out of four singles with No.1 singles player Carson Root winning over Tanner Hahn of Reedsburg, 6-1.
No. 2 singles player Taylor Soddy won his match, 6-1 and Eric Knutson won 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
The No.1 doubles team of Patrick Gellings and Garrett Tschanz was victorious, 6-2, 6-1 to clinch the win for the Cheesemakers before the other doubles matches were rained out.
Monroe's next tennis match is scheduled for April 22 at home against Oregon.
