DEFOREST - The Sugar River girls soccer team could only get one game in at the Norskie Invitational on Saturday due to poor field conditions caused by rain.
"It was a rainy, saturated field," Sugar River coach John Ziperski said.
The Raiders still won their lone game of the afternoon quad, 5-2 over Platteville.
With the wind at its back in the first half, Sugar River took a 4-0 lead.
Kaitlyn Schluter scored the first goal 14 minutes, 15 seconds into the game off an assist from Hannah Kernen. Kernen scored the second (21st minute) and fourth (29th minute) goals of the half, and assisted Katie Viney's goal in the 22nd minute.
In the second half, Kernen, a sophomore all-state forward, scored the Raiders' final goal in the 60th minute, making the score, 5-1.
Robia Jelle and Lauren Narveson each had assists for Sugar River.
The Raiders, who played seven games in an eight-day stretch, will continued running at game speed as they travel Tuesday evening to Columbus.
