BELLEVILLE - The Sugar River Raiders rebounded from a 30-18 deficit to defeat Columbus 42-33 in Capitol Conference wrestling Tuesday.
The Raiders trailed 33-30 with two weight classes remaining, but the Cardinals forfeited at 160 pounds and 171 pounds to give the Raiders the win.
Sugar River also received forfeits at 189 pounds and 215 pounds.
Senior Dylan Riley of Sugar River pinned Aaron Kast of Columbus in 3:01 at 140 pounds and senior Tom Vetterli gave the Raiders another pin at 145 pounds, sticking Kody Klink of Columbus in 4:32.
The Raiders also got decisions from freshman Taylor Christen (112 pounds) with a 9-2 win over Tou Lor of Columbus and Brooks Hendrickson (130 pounds) with a 6-5 win over the Cardinals' Mitchell Groh.
Sugar River will face Marshall at home Thursday, Jan. 28.
Pecatonica-Argyle 52, Wisconsin Heights 19
BLANCHARDVILLE - The Pecatonica-Argyle wrestling team received pins from juniors Eli Davis and Chris James en route to a dual meet win over Wisconsin Heights Tuesday.
Davis, at 145 pounds, pinned Wisconsin Heights' Justin Rhodes in 1 minute, 40 seconds. James (135) pinned Jacob Sutcliffe in 2:22.
The Vanguards forfeited seven of the 14 weight classes.
Pecatonica-Argyle junior Ross Gilbertson, at heavyweight, defeated Brady Hoff in a major decision 13-3.
Pecatonica-Argyle hosts Sugar River Thursday night in a non-conference showdown.
