MADISON - Jack Gentilli and Charlie Douma each scored two goals to lead the Sugar River boys soccer team to a 7-0 win over Madison Country Day in the regular-season finale Thursday.
Sugar River improved to 11-8-1 and won the Capitol Conference with a record of 7-1-1.
Gentilli scored the first goal in the second minute. Joey Sokol scored a goal on an assist by Jaden Kreklow in the 43rd minute to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead. Gentilli scored his second goal about one minute later to extend the Raiders' lead to 3-0 at the half.
The Raiders broke the game open with four goals in the second half. Sugar River's Brock Kelly had one goal and two assists. Douma scored his first goal in the 62nd minute on an assist from Milo Hoesly. Brock Kelly scored a goal in the 70th minute to extend the Raiders' lead to 5-0. About a minute later, Noah Leonard scored a goal on a pass from Kelly. Douma scored his second goal on an assist by Kelly in the 77th minute to cap the scoring.
Sugar River received a sixth seed in the WIAA Division 3 regional and will play Cambridge-Deerfield at 4 p.m. Oct. 20 at Reddan Soccer Park in Verona.
