PRAIRIE DU CHIEN - The New Glarus-Monticello Glarner Knights fought as hard as they could, but the WIAA Division 4 football playoff opening game seemed like it was over very early. The Knights' season ended Tuesday with a 49-14 loss to Prairie du Chien.
Prairie du Chien (7-3) scored three touchdowns in the first nine minutes of the game to open a 21-0 lead. New Glarus-Monticello then got a 61-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Bright to Cameron Jeglum.
Despite closing the gap to two scores, the Knights allowed another 21 points before the end of the first half. New Glarus-Monticello (5-5) got its final score at the start of the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run by Parker Havens.
Prairie du Chien rattled off 516 total yards of offense, while holding the Knights to just 260 yards.
