BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica-Argyle never got its ground game going, and Potosi grounded up the Vikings in the second half to spoil their homecoming Saturday, 28-14.

"We only gained 38 yards rushing (on 24 carries). And defensively, we played well in the first half, but not in the second half," head coach Larry Green said.

Both teams played equally in the first half. Each team worked their way into the end zone in the first quarter, and by halftime the score was tied 14-14. Lee Vlasak (60 rushing yards) scored on a 10-yard run in the first quarter and Milton Kurschner completed a 38-yard touchdown pass to Jake Rindy with 7:22 left in the half.

However, Pec-Argyle could not muster up much more on offense.

The Vikings were outgained 340-173 in offensive yards. Potosi ran the ball 56 times for 207 yards. But a fake punt changed the momentum.

Green said his team knew a fake punt was coming on fourth-and-one in the third quarter. But Potosi picked up 21 yards on the fake, later scored and killed any momentum the Vikings were hoping to pick up. With the lead, Potosi (4-0, 3-0 Six Rivers) put all of its weight on the ground game to eat up the clock, and Pec-Argyle was forced to pass with a sputtering running attack.

Pecatonica-Argyle (2-2, 2-1 in Six Rivers) got 143 passing yards from Kurschner, who was 13-of-20 in the game with a touchdown and an interception.
