NEW GLARUS - The members of the New Glarus High School girls basketball team took their coach's advice to heart by looking to feed the ball to the post and rolled to a 62-37 win over Belleville Thursday.
New Glarus (16-4, 7-2 Capitol South) outscored the Wildcats 36-19 in the second half after building an eight-point advantage in the first half.
"Our point guard Tamara Elzen did a great job of distributing the ball," New Glarus coach Kim Burton said. "We knew if we got the ball inside, we felt confident our posts could score. We really wanted to emphasize getting the ball into the post."
Junior McKinley Righter scored 13 points to lead the Glarner Knights. Sophomore Julia Barnaby and senior Tamara Elzen each added 12 points.
