Ponies survive Orioles

MONTICELLO - With first place in the Six Rivers East Conference on the line, the clash between Monticello and Argyle lived up to its advance billing.

Monticello outlasted Argyle, pulling out a thriller in five sets 25-15, 25-16, 26-28, 25-23, 15-11.

"The last couple of years it seems like Argyle and Monticello always comes down to five sets," Monticello coach Scott Smice said. "It went to script. I knew Argyle wasn't going anywhere. It seems like the longer a match, goes the stronger Argyle gets."

With the win, Monticello improves to 7-1, 4-0 Six Rivers East. Argyle drops to 4-1 in the conference and, with Barneveld, is one win behind the Ponies.

Monticello senior Alyssah Kubly had a match-high 22 kills and three blocks. Senior teammate Paige Dilley had 15 kills. Senior Jordan Garrison raced up 45 assists and Brecklyn Klosterman added three blocks. The Ponies had 10 aces as a team.

Argyle senior Jenna Langmeier had a team-high 15 kills. Sophomore teammate Kayla Butler-Paulson had 35 assists and four aces. Senior Kylie Johnsen added five blocks.



Pecatonica 3, Albany 0

BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica senior Sami Miller returned from a knee injury to help the Vikings roll to a 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 win over Albany Tuesday.

Both Sami Miller and Britt Miller had five kills to help the Vikings pull out the win.

"She's our captain and we need her presence on the court," Pecatonica coach Tori Leonard said of Sami Miller.

Pecatonica's Clara Moen had a team-high eight aces and Molly Hendrickson racked up seven blocks at the net. Elizabeth Tisch had 12 assists and Lexi Phillips added five digs for the Vikings.

"It's a big win for us," Leonard said. "We had a lot of fan support. Everyone put forth a great effort. We finally put it all together and played our game."

With the win, Pecatonica improves to 2-6, 1-3 Six Rivers East.

Albany's Jordan Stefanik notched three aces and Taylor Seffrood had two assists.



Barneveld 3, Black Hawk 0

BARNEVELD - The Eagles look to keep pace with Monticello sweeping Black Hawk 25-17, 25-20, 25-16.

Bareneveld's Mia Whitish had five blocks and Taylor Owens added four aces. Black Hawk was led by Sam Lovelace with nine aces and Jordyn Delzer with 10 assists.



Boscobel 3, Darlington 2

BOSCOBEL - Darlington dropped a nail-biter in five sets to Boscobel 17-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-25, 5-15.

Darlington freshman Kennedy Rankin had a team-high eight kills. Teammate Megan Wiegel had 18 assists and two aces. Mariah Wiegel also added two aces. With the loss, the Redbirds drop to 0-4 in the SWAL.



Cambridge 3, New Glarus 2

NEW GLARUS - The Blue Jays pulled out a tight three-set match against New Glarus knocking off the Glarner Knights 25-19, 25-12, 25-22.

New Glarus senior Ashley Gould led the Knights with seven kills and four blocks. Senior teammate Breanne Kreklow dished out 20 assists.
