BARNEVELD - A heartbreaking Game 1 loss cost the Monticello Ponies as they were defeated by the Barneveld Eagles, 27-25, 21-25, 24-26, 25-19, 15-11, in Six Rivers East conference action Thursday.
Junior Taylor Klitzke tallied 13 kills and four blocks to lead Monticello. Junior Taylor Pfeuti added six kills and three blocks for the Ponies. Monticello also got four kills and two blocks each from Haley Blum and Sadi Hilliard.
Monticello (4-7) will close out the regular season at home against Black Hawk Tuesday.
Iowa-Grant 3, Darlington 0
LIVINGSTON - Senior Whitney Hardyman delivered five kills, but the Redbirds couldn't slow down the Panthers as they lost 25-18, 25-21, 25-19, in SWAL conference action Thursday.
Senior Paige Champion and junior Chayse Hermanson had five assists and junior Kelsey Fink came up with seven digs while junior Elizabeth Mathias served three aces for Darlington (0-10).
The Redbirds will host the Darlington Invitational Saturday before welcoming Mineral Point Tuesday.
