Ponies, Cardinals score wins

ARGYLE - A late first-half surge helped the Monticello Ponies roll past the Argyle Orioles, 63-45 in a Six Rivers East Conference game Thursday.

Argyle led by one point with two minutes to play in the first half but the Ponies went on a scoring binge to take a 37-29 halftime lead and never trailed the rest of the way.

Senior Tyler Ritschard led all scorers with 31 points for Monticello, while senior Corey McGowan added 12 points for the Ponies.

Senior Nate Thomas scored 14 points and junior Stephan Shambrook scored 11 points for Argyle.

Monticello (14-5, 9-1 Six Rivers East) will host Mineral Point in a non-conference game Saturday. Argyle (4-15, 2-8 Six Rivers East) will travel to Juda Tuesday.

Brodhead 47, Palmyra-Eagle 33

PALMYRA - Brodhead senior J.J. Panoske nearly outscored his opponents as the Brodhead Cardinals used a 13-0 third quarter to top the Palmyra-Eagle Panthers 47-33 in Rock Valley Conference action Thursday.

Panoske scored 33 points to power the Cardinals to their sixth straight win.

Brodhead improved to 7-3 in the Rock Valley South and 12-7 overall.

Palmyra-Eagle fell to 5-15. The Cardinals will host Clinton Tuesday.

New Glarus 54, Belleville 47

BELLEVILLE - Junior Tyler Kreklow scored 23 points and the New Glarus Glarner Knights knocked down eight 3-pointers to slip past the Belleville Wildcats 54-47 in a Capitol South game Thursday.

The Glarner Knights took a 25-12 half-time lead and turned back a Belleville rally in the second half.

New Glarus also got 11 points from senior Kirbe French.

New Glarus (9-10, 4-3 Capitol South) will travel to Marshall Tuesday.

Juda at Barneveld, Postponed

BARNEVELD - The Six Rivers East Conference game between the Juda Panthers (7-3, 13-7) and the Barneveld Eagles (10-0, 15-3) scheduled for Thursday was postponed.

The game has been rescheduled for Saturday.
