MONROE - The WIAA released the football playoff pairings on Saturday and seven area teams are in the postseason.
Monroe (4-4) received a No. 7 seed in Group C of the Division 3 playoffs and will play at Mount Horeb-Barneveld at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19.
"We are excited to play them," Monroe coach Curt Miller said. "We felt like we had a case to be the No. 6 seed with the competition we played all year. We are less concerned with who we are going to play and more concerned that we get to play."
Evansville-Albany (6-2), the Rock Valley North Conference champions, received a No. 3 seed and will host sixth-seeded McFarland (5-3). The game time has not been determined yet.
Most of the teams in the playoffs are playing Friday night games to avoid conflicts with the Wisconsin Badgers game and volleyball regional championship matches.
"Everyone wanted to stay with the same routine," Miller said of the Cheesemakers and Vikings playing Friday night. "There is something about Friday night football that makes it a little bit more special."
In Division 4, Brodhead-Juda (5-3) is a No. 4 seed in Group D and will host Campbellsport at 4 p.m. on Saturday. New Glarus-Monticello (6-2) is a No. 6 seed in Group B and will play at No. 3 seed Nekoosa at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Darlington (4-4) in Group C of the Division 6 playoffs is a No. 8 seed and will play No. 1 seed Deerfield at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. Pecatonica-Argyle (6-2) received a No. 6 seed and will play at No. 3 seed Iowa-Grant at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Black Hawk (6-2) received a No. 4 seed in Division 7 Group D and will host Catholic Central at 7 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors lost a 35-34 thriller to Catholic Central last year in the Level 2 playoffs. This time, Black Hawk will have home field advantage.
