PeeWee A team wins 3 games

MONROE - The Avalanche PeeWee A team won three games Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

On Friday, Monroe traveled to Dubuque and beat the Jr. Saints B 3-0. Scoring goals for the Avalanche were Tessa Janecke, Hayden Roth and Cade Janecke on an assist by Tessa Janecke. The Avalanche outshot the Jr. Saints 36-11.

On Saturday, for Appreciation Day, the PeeWee A team defeated Middleton A 6-2. The Avalanche put up three goals in the first period. Scoring goals were Tessa Janecke (two), Hayden Roth with a hat trick and Ryan Molitor. Roth and Molitor scored in the third on Middleton's empty net. Earning assists were Tessa Janecke (two), Alvin Buholzer, Anika Einbeck (two), Cade Janecke (one), Haley Knauf (one), Jayden Johnson (one), Molitor (one) and Alyssa Knauf (two). Goalie Heath Bear recorded 39 saves.

On Sunday, the PeeWee A team traveled to Beloit and easily defeated the Beloit Blades B team 10-1. Scoring goals were Hayden Roth with a hat trick, Cade Janecke with two goals, and one goal each for Payton Stauffacher, Johnson, Molitor, and Alyssa Knauf. Earning assists were Tessa Janecke with a playmaker, two each by Alvin Buholzer, Roth, Molitor, Cade Janecke, Johnson, and one by Stauffacher. The Avalanche outshot the Blades 58-9.



U14 Girls

On Saturday, the Avalanche U14 Girls team hosted the DC Diamond U14 B. The Avalanche won the game shutting out the DC Diamonds 5-0.

Scoring goals were Anika Einbeck (two), Cammi Ganshert and Madeline Williams (two). Earning assists were Tessa Janecke (two), Lilah Bauer (two), Anna Malone, Ganshert, Alyssa Knauf and Rachel Jenkins.



U12 Girls

The Avalanche U12 girls hosted the Ice Spirit U10 team on Friday and skated to a 6-2 win.

Lilah Bauer was the top scorer of the game with five goals, which earned her a hat-trick award. Goaltender Brooke Teubert had 25 saves. In the first period, four goals were scored by the Avalanche, three by Bauer and one by Rebecca Rath. Teubert had nine saves. The opposing Ice Spirit scored twice.

In the second period, Bauer scored once again and Teubert saved all five of the shots. In the final period, Bauer made another goal for the Avalanche and Teubert had 10 saves.



U10 Girls

The Avalanche U10 girls hosted the Sun Prairie Squirt B team on Jan. 18 and lost 7-1.

The first period was rough, with three goals from Sun Prairie. But goaltender Brooke Teubert had eight saves. The second period saw four goals scored by Sun Prairie. Teubert had10 saves. Bauer scored a goal for the Avalanche in the third period.



Bantam

On Saturday, the Avalanche Bantam skated to a 4-1 win over the Madison Patriots B team at SLICE.

The game was scoreless until midway through the second period when Madison scored the game's first goal. With three minutes left in the second period, Joe Wyss scored the Avalanche's first goal to tie the game at 1. Travis Edmunds and Jared Cline were credited with assists on Wyss' goal. The Avalanche turned up the heat in the third period, as Cade Janecke, Riley Jones and Edmunds each scored goals to give Monroe the victory. Colton O'Connor had two assists while Payton Stauffacher, Cline, Wyss and Janecke earned assists on the final three goals. Goalie Jayden Johnson stopped 12 shots.

On Sunday, the team traveled to Stoughton for a hard-hitting 6-1 win.

Wyss got the Avalanche on the board with two first period goals. Charlie Harris and Riley Jones were credited with assists on the first goal. Ty O'Connor was credited with an assist on the second goal.

Stoughton scored a goal to open the second period to make the score 2-1. With Monroe on the power-play, Cade Janecke took a pass from Stauffacher and beat the Stoughton goalie to give the Avalanche a 3-1 lead. Moments later, Edmunds scored another power-play goal to give the Avalanche a three-goal lead. Midway through the third period, Wyss received a pass from Edmunds and buried it into the back of the net for his third goal of the game. Janecke scored the final goal of the game. Johnson recorded 18 saves.



Pee Wee B

The Pee Wee B hockey team took on Sun Prairie's B (17-1) team at SLICE Arena Saturday and lost 6-0.

The Avalanche had a tough first period, giving up three goals, but in the next two periods they showed Sun Prairie that they were not giving up. The Avalanche held Sun Prairie team to only one goal in the third period. Goaltender Aiden Runkle had 39 saves.

The Pee Wee B team will travel to Dubuque, Iowa in the "Battle By The Bridge" tournament to take on Iowa City at 2 p.m. Saturday in the first game.
