BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica volleyball coach Cher Schliem made a few adjustments with her team by having them hit away from Black Hawk junior Jen Wellnitz.
After dropping the first game to Black Hawk, 25-20, the Vikings (2-5, 1-1 Six Rivers East) rebounded to win the next two games 25-23, 25-20. The Warriors won the fourth game 25-20 to force a decisive fifth game. The Warriors jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the final game, but the Vikings showed resiliency and battled back to win 15-12.
"Early on, Jen Wellnitz was on fire," Schliem said. "She's an amazing middle hitter and we couldn't get it around her. I think we were able to make some adjustments offensively and defensively. We tried to hit it around her."
Pecatonica senior Ashley Johnsen had back-to-back blocks in the third game.
"That kind of sparked us," Schliem said. "Lizzy Britt and Madeline Fischer did a good job of moving the ball around. Michelle Francois held us together on defense."
Francois had 19 assists and 17 digs to lead the Vikings. Britt had nine kills and three aces and Johnsen added three blocks.
