Pecatonica edges Black Hawk in OT

SOUTH WAYNE - In a battle for second place in the Six Rivers East Conference, Pecatonica senior A.J. Hendrickson made 1 of 2 free throws with 4 seconds to go in overtime to lift the Vikings to a 54-53 thrilling win over Black Hawk on Friday.

Black Hawk coach Charlie Anderson called a timeout and set up a final play. Black Hawk junior C.J. Leuzinger's 3-point shot from the left wing at the buzzer hit the rim and glanced away.

"I wanted to give C.J. a shot," Anderson said. "It's tough. It was a good look. We had a shot. Pec made one more play than we did and pulled out the victory. It was one of those games where both teams competed phenomenally. It was a great high school game."

Hendrickson scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Vikings. Sophomore Colten Schraepfer added 12 points.

Black Hawk sophomore Conner Meyer scored a team-high 25 points for Black Hawk (9-3, 4-2 Six Rivers East). Senior Josh Meier added 17 points and Leuzinger chipped in nine points.

"Whenever you play a close game I think there are positives you can take away from it from both sides," Anderson said. "Being in close games and those situations will come around again in the tournament and the remainder of our schedule. We just have to learn from our mistakes and build on the positives."



Albany 59, Monticello 45

ALBANY - Sophomore Corbin Kelly and senior Brock Gilkes combined to score 24 points to propel Albany (6-7, 2-4 Six Rivers East) over Monticello (3-11, 1-6).

Both Kelly and Gilkes scored a team-high 12 points. Junior Jamison Stauffacher added 10 points and senior Connor Trow pitched in six points on two 3-pointers.

"I think we were able to get it inside their zone," Albany coach Derek Allen said. "We got it into the high post and things opened up from there."

Allen was excited to see the a balanced scoring.

"It's big for us," Allen said. "When we can get Corbin and Jamison going it takes the pressure off Brock and Connor to score."

Monticello senior Zach Price scored a game-high 17 points and knocked down three 3-pointers. Juniors Brandon Gafner and Jon Errthum each added seven points. Junior Travis McCoy hit two 3-pointers.



Juda 63, Argyle 35

JUDA - Junior guard Keagen Haffele scored a game-high 26 points and had four steals to power Juda (9-4, 4-2 Six Rivers East) in a win over Argyle (2-10, 0-6).

"It was a great team performance," Juda coach James Pickett said. "Solid team defense led to easy transition baskets."

Juda senior Matt Schmitt had 13 points, 11 rebounds and three steals.

Argyle senior Collin Argue scored a team-high 14 points. Junior Brent Ritschard added 12 points.

Argyle shot 50 percent from the free-throw line 9 of 18 compared to Juda which shot 68.4 percent (13 of 19).
