Pec slugs Ponies; Comets win

HOLLANDALE - Vikings senior Lee Vlasak slugged two home runs and had four RBI to lift the Vikings to a 7-2 win over Monticello Tuesday night.

Pecatonica senior Milton Kurschner pitched five innings and gave up two runs, strucking out eight and walking one.

The game was a pitcher's duel between Kurschner and Monticello senior Brandon Holz until the sixth. The Vikings scored five runs in the sixth to knock Holz out of the game.

Holz pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up five earned runs, struck out 10 and walked three.

Vlasak went 2-for-3 for the Vikings and Tannar Johnson was 2-for-4 with a double. Vlasak pitched two shutout innings to get the win.

Albany 10,

Black Hawk 0

ALBANY - Albany senior Tyler Bauman pitched a two-hit shutout to lead the Comets to a 10-0 win over Black Hawk on Tuesday.

Bauman pitched six innings and struck out seven. The Comets committed four errors in the game, but overcame the miscues with their hitting.

Albany (4-1, 2-0 Six Rivers East) scored five runs in the third inning, being led by senior Mike Elmer (2-for-3).

Nick Good and Mike Walker had hits for the Warriors. Black Hawk senior Payton Schliem pitched three innings and gave up six runs on four hits.

Argyle 4,

Benton-Shullsburg 0

SHULLSBURG - The Orioles received a magnificent pitching performance from junior Nick Martin in a 4-0 win over Shullsburg-Benton.

Martin pitched a complete game shutout and scattered seven hits. He struck out six and walked three.

Argyle scored a pair of runs in both the first and third innings. Argyle senior Andy Bohlman went 2-for-4 for the Orioles.

Cuba City 11, Darlington 5

DARLINGTON - Cuba City pounded out 11 hits in slugging its way to an 11-6 win over Darlington.

The Cubans scored six runs in the fourth to take a commanding 8-0 lead, before the Redbirds pushed across a couple of runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Darlington were led by Brett Hardyman (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) and Taylor Wiegel (2-for-5, 2 RBIs) at the plate. Wiegel pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up four earned runs on six hits, struck out six and walked three.
