Pec gets by Juda, BH loses to Barneveld

BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica senior Evan Prust scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Vikings to a 55-45 win over Juda Friday.

Pecatonica (8-5, 6-0 Six Rivers East) was tied with Juda at the half at 20. The Panthers led the Vikings by five points with about 8 minutes to go. Pecatonica answered by going on a 15-0 run.

"They (Juda) played a zone the entire game and we didn't react to it very well," Pecatonica coach Matt Fink said. That 15-0 run really helped us put the game way."

The Vikings played without junior starting point guard Colton Schraepfer due to an ankle injury.

"He (Schraepfer) probably could have went," Fink said. "It was a decision to error on the side of caution. We didn't want top push him. We want to get him healthy for next week."

Pecatonica junior Jaden Hendrickson added 13 points and junior Zack Eaton pitched in 10.

Juda senior Keagen Haffele scored a team-high 17 points and senior Cole Fortney added 16. With the loss, Juda drops to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the Six Rivers East Conference.



Barneveld 51,

Black Hawk 34

BARNEVELD - Senior Kauy Fargo scored a game-high 17 points and Barneveld pulled away in the second half to win a showdown with Black Hawk.

Black Hawk (8-4, 4-3 Six Rivers East) was tied with Barneveld at 20 at the half. The Eagles outscored the Warriors 31-14 in the second half.

"I think the difference was we just couldn't hit shots," Black Hawk coach Charlie Anderson said. "We had good looks. We just couldn't put the ball in the basket. Bottom line is we struggled scoring. It was a frustrating second half offensively."

Black Hawk junior Connor Meyer scored a team-high 15 points. Senior teammate C.J. Leuzinger added 6 points.

Barneveld's Malcolm Reed also added 15 points. With the win, Barneveld (6-6, 5-1 Six Rivers East) remains one game behind Pecatonica in the race for the Six Rivers East Conference title.



Albany 63, Argyle 44

ALBANY - The Albany boys basketball team had four players reach double figures en route to a big win over Argyle.

Albany junior Corbin Kelley scored a team-high 14 points. Albany led by just six points at the half. However, the Comets outscored the Orioles 33-20 in the second half.

Albany junior Jamison Stauffacher and senior Josh Shell each scored a team-high 12 points. Junior teammate Josh Dahl added 11. Shell knocked down four of the Comets' eight 3-pointers.

Argyle senior Brent Ritschard scored a game-high 19 points.

In other action, Darlington rolled to a 92-51 win over Iowa-Grant. With the victory, Darlington improves to 9-4 overall and 5-2 in the SWAL. The Redbirds trail Cuba City and Mineral Point by one game.
