Pec captures conference title

BLANCHARDVILLE - Junior A.J. Hendrickson knocked in three runs to lead the Pecatonica baseball team to a 12-2 six-inning win over River Ridge on Friday that sealed the Six Rivers East Conference championship for the Vikings.

Pecatonica played the game in the rain, but the second game of the scheduled doubleheader was canceled due to the weather since it doesn't count in the conference standings.

"It (repeating as conference champions) was one of our goals going into the season," Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen said. "They have put in a lot of time in the summer and fall. They have earned the conference championship by all of the work they put in."

Pecatonica's Presly Hauser went 2-for-3 with two RBI, and Hendrickson was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

Pecatonica (19-1, 13-0 Six Rivers East), ranked second in the WisSports.net Division 4 coaches' poll, led 5-2 going into the fifth inning.

The Vikings exploded for six runs in the fifth.

Pecatonica senior Riley Gould pitched three innings to get the win. He gave up two runs on six hits. He struck out five, walked three and hit one. Junior Dakota Conwell tossed three shutout innings in relief.



Argyle 16, Potosi 1

DARLINGTON - Junior Collin Argue had three hits and eight RBI to power Argyle past Potosi.

Argyle improves to 9-9, 6-5 Six Rivers East. The second game of the doubleheader was canceled.

The Orioles had a three-run first inning and a 5-1 lead after two innings. The Orioles had seven hits and put the game away with a five-run third and a six-run fourth. The Chieftains were plagued by four errors.

Argyle's Josh Lehman and Andrew Schild each drove in two runs.

Argyle senior Riley Ostby pitched a complete game and gave up one run on one hit and struck out two.
