Pec blanks BH; Orioles bats explode; Cards clipped

BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica junior Lane Busser went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and three pitchers for the Vikings combined on a two-hit shutout in a 12-0 five-inning win over Black Hawk Tuesday.

Pecatonica junior Carter Ruegsegger pitched three shutout innings to get the win. He gave up just two hits, struck out eight and walked none. Senior Evan Prust pitched one inning in relief and struck out one and Busser pitched one inning in relief and struck out two.

"I tried to get some time on the mound for those guys," Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen said. "They combined for no walks which was great. They were in command of the strike zone."

Pecatonica junior Colton Schraepfer went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI and three runs scored. Prust went 2-for-2 with one RBI and three runs scored.

The two hits for the Warriors came from Jayden Stietz who singled in the first and Brandon Schifferl who doubled in the second. With the win, Pecatonica improves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the Six Rivers East.



Argyle 19,

Monticello-Albany 1

MONTICELLO - Argyle sophomore Gavin Johnson had three hits and drove in six runs to power the Orioles to a win over Monticello-Albany Tuesday.

With a three-run second inning, Argyle jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings. The Orioles put the game away with a six-run fourth and a nine-run fifth. The Orioles pounded out 15 hits. Argyle senior Josh Lehman had three hits and three RBIs. Freshman teammate Clay Ritschard also had three hits and senior Brent Ritschard also had four RBIs.

Argyle junior Mitch Flannery pitched four innings to get the win. He gave up just one run and struck out five. Flannery combined with two other pitchers for the Orioles to limit the Ponies to five hits.

Monticello-Albany senior Corbin Kelley pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up four runs and struck out five.



Clinton 12, Brodhead-Juda 11

CLINTON - Brodhead-Juda's Andrew Brockwell went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, but the Cougars hung on to knock off the Cardinals in a slugfest.

With Brodhead-Juda leading 11-10 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Cougars scored two runs for a walk-off win. The Cardinals out hit the Cougars 15-10.

Brodhead-Juda's Clayton Hale went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and freshman Cade Walker finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. Sophomore teammate Marco Bueno was 2-for-5.

Cardinals senior Almonzo Friedly pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up six earned runs on six hits. He struck out five and walked two. Brockwell pitched 3 2/3 innings and gave up two earned runs on four hits, while striking out four and walking two.
