PLATTEVILLE - Pecatonica-Argyle junior quarterback Logan Green had four touchdowns to lead the Vikings to a 38-0 win over Potosi on Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

Pecatonica-Argyle entered the season as one of the favorites to win the Six Rivers Conference. The Vikings dominated the Chieftains in the Six Rivers Jamboree matchup at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Pioneer Stadium, racking up 294 total yards, including 197 total rushing yards.

The Vikings have run a spread offense the past couple of years but have switched to a fly offense this season that focuses on running the ball and keeping a balanced attack.

"I think our coaches did a great job of preparing our kids," Pecatonica-Argyle coach Larry Green said. "We came out and executed the game plan, and the results showed on the scoreboard. Winning the first game was important regardless of who we were playing. The kids were really pumped up because we haven't beat Potosi for several years."

Pecatonica-Argyle senior running back Riley Ostby rushed for 83 yards on 19 carries and caught a touchdown pass from Logan Green. Senior running back Cam Treuthardt rushed for 77 yards on 16 carries and scored one touchdown.

"We went away from the spread offense this year," Green said. "We have two running backs who are complementary. We feel like we are a better running team in this offense than the spread. We also have the skill guys outside we can get the ball to."

The Vikings jumped out to an early lead when Green tossed a pass to Ostby who turned it into a 15-yard touchdown. Logan Green then scored on a 2-yard run to give the Vikings a 13-0 lead in the first quarter.

Green punched in a 1-yard TD run late in the second quarter to give the Vikings a 19-0 lead at the half.

Pecatonica-Argyle senior defensive tackle Andrew Schild recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown. Green then tossed a 22-yard TD pass to Cory Linder in the fourth quarter to extend the Vikings' lead to 31-0.

Black Hawk 32, Belmont 27

PLATTEVILLE - Black Hawk sophomore quarterback Brody Milz tossed a 7-yard TD pass to sophomore Jett Rufenacht with 23 seconds to go to give the Warriors a thrilling comeback win Saturday.

"It came down to who got the ball last," Black Hawk coach Cory Milz said. "Our kids just never quit. They got down a couple of times, but they never hung their heads."

Black Hawk senior running back Jacob Quinn rushed for 227 yards on 18 carries and scored three touchdowns to propel the Warriors.

"We ran the ball well," Cory Milz said. "Our line came off the ball really well."

Belmont quarterback Jon Bahr had three touchdowns (two running and one passing) to lead the Braves. Bahr gave the Braves a 7-0 lead with an 8-yard TD run in the first quarter. The Warriors answered with Quinn's 65-yard TD run. The Warriors missed the extra point and trailed 7-6.

Quinn scored on a 10-yard run with 9 minutes, 12 seconds to go in the third quarter. The Warriors missed the extra point again and trailed 13-12. Bahr responded with a 41-yard TD pass to give the Braves a 19-12 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Quinn broke loose for a 66-yard TD run with 11:50 left, but the Warriors missed the two-point conversion and trailed 19-18. Bahr answered with a 10-yard TD run to put the Braves up 27-18. It didn't take the Warriors long to battle back with senior Chase Stietz scoring on a 7-yard run. However, the two-point conversion failed again, and the Warriors trailed 27-24. That set the stages for the thrilling finish.

After Brody Milz's touchdown pass to Rufenacht, sophomore Jason Treuthardt caught a two-point conversion pass from Brody Milz to seal the victory.

After missing two extra-point kicks and having some penalties on two-point conversions that failed, Cory Milz is excited with how the Warriors responded to adversity.

"It's still a work in progress," Cory Milz said of the two-point conversion plays. "It's one of many things we have to work on to get better at."

Brody Milz was 5 of 8 passing for 75 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Rufenacht had three receptions for 54 yards and one touchdown.
