CASSVILLE - The Pecatonica-Argyle football team knows all too well that any game can come down to the final seconds.
Pecatonica-Argyle (1-3) got 93 rushing yards from sophomore Jared Johnson and two touchdowns to pick up its first win, 14-12, Friday over Cassville. However, just like last week, when the Vikings lost on a last-second touchdown to River Ridge, this game came down to the end.
With the Vikings leading, 14-6, Cassville threw a 9-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter, but the Comets' two-point conversion pass failed and the Vikings survived.
Pecatonica senior Jeremy Meudt completed 9 of 14 passes for 74 yards and had one interception. Junior Charlie Rubio had five receptions for 60 yards to lead the Vikings.
Brodhead-Juda 42, East Troy 7
EAST TROY - Brodhead senior running back Ethan Douglas rushed for 243 yards and scored five touchdowns as the Cardinals bulldozed East Troy.
Brodhead-Juda (4-0) piled up 386 rushing yards and junior Gavin Garrett had 95 rushing yards on 16 carries.
The Cardinals limited East Troy (1-3) to 94 total yards, only 55 on the ground.
Brodhead-Juda sophomore quarterback David Earleywine was 6-of-9 passing for 82 yards and had a 10-yard TD pass to Mike Peterson.
Darlington 45, Southwestern 0
SOUTHWESTERN - The Redbirds kept their offense rolling over Southwestern.
Darlington junior quarterback Alex Erickson rushed for 101 yards on nine carries and scored four touchdowns to propel the Redbirds to the shutout. Fellow junior Tucker Wiegel rushed for 114 yards on six carries, which included an 82-yard TD run in the third quarter.
Darlington senior Trynton Schwartz intercepted a pass and returned it 59 yards for a touchdown.
With the win, Darlington improves to 4-0 and hosts Cuba City on Friday, Sept. 25.
