ORFORDVILLE - Monticello's girls basketball team fell behind early and never could draw close in its 58-32 season-opening loss Thursday to Orfordville Parkview.
Sarah Silver scored a team-high 10 points for the Ponies. Taylor Klitzke had seven points, and Desiree Marty, Mary Hershberger and Sadi Hilliard each added four points in the loss.
Monticello fell behind 15-8 after the first quarter and trailed 30-12 at halftime. Headed into the fourth quarter, the Ponies trailed 45-18, and many reserves got to see some action.
Monticello prepares for its next test, on Tuesday against Johnson Creek.
