JUDA - For five innings, Black Hawk freshman pitcher Hannah Butler kept Juda-Albany's bats at bay.

The Panthers had just one hit through the first five innings, but Juda-Albany stormed back from a three-run deficit by pounding out 10 hits in a 13-run sixth inning to come back to beat the Warriors 13-3 in six innings on Monday.

"We were down and in unfamiliar territory," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "We were just pressing a little bit. I told them are you going to give up and if you want to win this game you have to win each pitch."

Juda-Albany junior Haley Freitag came in as a pinch hitter and led off the sixth with a single.

"She (Freitag) has been doing it all year for us," Davis said. "It was key to get the leadoff hitter on. It was the first time we got the leadoff hitter on in the game and it set the table for the top of our order coming up. That sixth inning is the first time we put any pressure on them offensively."

Juda-Albany senior Alexis Goecks singled and senior Chelsea Burkhalter had a two-run triple to cut the Warriors' lead to 5-2.

Senior Sara Jordan delivered an RBI single and senior Sayde McDermott had RBI singles to spark the rally.

With the win, Juda-Albany improves to 8-1, 5-0 Six Rivers East. McDermott went 3-for-4 and Jordan was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Burkhalter also knocked in two runs.

Juda-Albany junior Nicki Becker pitched a complete game and gave up two earned runs on four hits. She struck out five and didn't issue a walk.

Butler went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in the first to lead the Warriors.

In six innings pitching, Butler gave up eight earned runs on 11 hits. She struck out five and walked four.

Monticello 14, Pecatonica 1

BLANCHARDVILLE - Monticello senior Jessie Garrison tossed a two-hitter to lead the Ponies to a 14-1 win over Pecatonica on Monday.

The game started out with a bang with Monticello turning a triple play in the first inning. After Pecatonica's Carly Rindy and Ninah McKeon singled, a triple play situation was set up later in the inning. With runners on first and third, Garrison got the Vikings to pop it up.

The Ponies were able to turn a triple play.

"I had the steal sign on and they didn't see the pop up," Pecatonica coach Chuck Meyer said. "We were not adept at base running."

Garrison went 4-for-5 at the plate to help her own cause. Monticello sophomore Hannah Zanow went 2-for-5 and hit a grand slam in the Ponies' five-run sixth. Sophomore Claire Klossner also went 2-for-4.

McKeon pitched a complete game and gave up two earned runs on 10 hits. The Vikings committed nine errors. She struck out seven and walked eight.

With the loss, Pecatonica drops to 0-11, 0-7 Six Rivers East.

Argyle scored three runs in the first inning and led 5-1 going into the sixth. Barneveld rallied to win the game with a six-run sixth. Four of the Orioles' five errors in the game came in the sixth.

"It was just due to the errors and poor decision-making," Argyle coach Heidi Ganshert said. "We still have a long way to go."

Argyle junior Brianne Connors went 3-for-4 and had three RBI. Sophomore Jadyn Saalsaa also went 3-for-4.

Argyle junior Kaylie Berget pitched 51⁄3 innings and gave up three earned runs on six hits. She struck out one and walked two. Junior Taylor Mathys pitched 22⁄3 innings in relief and gave up three runs on six hits.
