JUDA - The Juda boys basketball team gave up 41 points in the middle two quarters of their game with Mineral Point, and lost, 59-47.

Juda led 10-9 after the first quarter, before Mineral Point took over. The Pointers took a 17-point lead into the fourth, but the Panthers won the final quarter, 14-9.

Mineral Point was led by Trevor Wendhausen and Sy Staver, who scored 18 and 17, respectively. Juda coach Mike Armitage said that those two players made the difference in the second and third quarters.

"That's where those two kids took over," he said. "Windhausen had two three's in that second quarter. It's where they put their run on. They did a good job of disrupting our flow on offense and getting some turnovers and converting. We didn't do a good job of getting into a flow on either end of the court."

Kade Allen led Juda with 15 points. Matt Trotter also contributed 10 for the Panthers.

Armitage said his team needs to buy in on defense, but he also said he believes their best basketball is ahead of them.

"We didn't pay attention to our defensive rules. We need to commit a lot more on the defensive end," he said. "But Mineral Point's alright. They're in a tough conference. They're a young team with good things to come in the future.

"Most teams have played 10 or 11 games. This was only our eighth game. It clearly shows we haven't peaked yet."
