JUDA - The Juda boys basketball team had three players in double figures and cruised to a 70-35 win over Belmont Tuesday night.
Juda (1-1) jumped out to a 20-10 lead on the Braves in the first quarter and led by 25 points at halftime.
Juda junior Cole Bauman scored 17 points to lead the Panthers. Senior Joey Jordan scored 15 points and junior Cody Suiter added 14.
Juda coach Mike Armitage understands the Panthers didn't do anything special to win.
"I think we played sound defense, we made smart decisions on offense," Armitage said. "It sounds vanilla, but that was the case tonight."
COLUMBUS 75, NEW GLARUS 66
COLUMBUS - The Cardinals won a shootout in the Capitol Conference crossover game and survived a rally by the Glarner Knights.
Columbus led by 18 points, but New Glarus was able to cut it to an eight-point lead in the third quarter.
New Glarus senior Tyler Kreklow scored a game-high 25 points and made two 3-pointers. New Glarus senior Riley Miller scored 18 points and sophomore Trae VandeBerg added 14. With the loss, New Glarus drops to 3-1.
HIGHLAND 34, BLACK HAWK 25
SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk's offense sputtered in the second half and the Warriors couldn't hang on to a nine-point halftime lead.
Black Hawk scored just five points in the second half and lost a non-conference game. Highland outscored Black hawk 10-0 in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Black Hawk junior Cory Rupnow scored a team-high 12 points and senior Hayden Schleim added six.
MINERAL POINT 46, MONTICELLO 35
MINERAL POINT - Mineral Point's Travis Steffes scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Pointers past the Ponies.
Mineral Point outscored Monticello 15-7 in the second quarter to take a nine point lead. The Pointers seized control of the game outscoring the Ponies 15-9 in the third quarter.
Monticello senior Lukas Kolasch scored nine points to lead the Ponies. The Pointers also had an edge in free throws (8 of 13) compared to just 2 of 6 for the Ponies.
