DARLINGTON - The Argyle girls basketball team used a press defense to roll to a 67-45 non-conference win over Darlington Monday in a non-conference game.
Argyle jumped out to a 15-7 lead in the first quarter and led by 13 points at halftime. Darlington coach Kelly Rose said the Orioles' pressure defense made the difference.
"It was a game-changer," Rose said. "It was a run and jump trap. We have to see better opportunities up court rather than have our head down."
Argyle sophomore Kayla Butler-Paulson scored a game-high 27 points and drilled four 3-pointers. Argyle senior Jenna Langmeier added 13 points.
Darlington was led by Mariah Wiegel who scored 14 points and made three 3-pointers. With the loss, Darlington drops to 1-2. With the win, Argyle improves to 1-1.
