ARGYLE - With her team trailing Monticello by one game for the Six Rivers Eastern Conference lead, Argyle coach Heidi Ganshert was pleased with her team's offensive output in a 21-0 drubbing of Black Hawk.

With their bats ready to go, the Orioles connected early and often. Leading the Orioles at the plate with strong nights were Amber Dammen and Alysha Monahan. Dammen finished with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate, including one double and a triple to give her two RBIs, while Monahan went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and three RBIs. Hannah Saalsaa (2-for-2, two doubles) and Floan Flannery (1-for-2, one double) brought in two runs as well.

"It's always great to see them hit the ball hard," Ganshert said. "For once we stayed patient and it just paid off."

Picking up the win via shutout was Orioles ace Jessica Treuthardt, who allowed one hit, no walks, along with four strikeouts in five innings of work.

With a Monticello win on Tuesday, the Orioles (15-4, 7-2) still remain one game behind the Ponies for the conference lead.

"We are playing every game like it's our last one," Ganshert said. "We are starting to prepare for the tournament."

Evansville 6, Brodhead 4

EVANSVILLE - Despite collecting four more hits and committing two less errors, the Brodhead softball team suffered a 6-4 loss at the hands of the host Blue Devils.

Both teams traded runs in the first inning, as the Cardinals picked up two runs from the start only to have Evansville even the score shortly after. The Blue Devils then scored two more runs again in the third and fifth innings to take a 6-2 lead heading into the sixth. Attempting to make a comeback, the Cardinals' bid fell short as they only managed a run in the final inning.

Fennimore 5, Darlington 4

FENNIMORE - The Darlington softball team's bid for their second win on the season came up just short as they fell 5-4 in Fennimore. After taking a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the fourth, the Redbirds saw their lead fade away as the host Golden Eagles rallied with three runs of their own between the fourth and fifth innings to steal the win.

Jena Foulker pitched all seven innings for the Redbirds, allowing 10 hits, and five runs while striking out two. Mariah Wiegel finished 2-for-3 with a double.

Barneveld 6, Pecatonica 1

BARNEVELD - Senior ace Julia Meyer was given the tough task of trying to hold a prolific Barneveld offense from doing too much damage in Pecatoncia's matchup against the host Golden Eagles. Although Meyer showed poise and control on the mound, the Eagles generated enough offense to propel their team to a 6-1 win.

Meyer threw all seven innings, giving up nine hits, six runs (five earned), four walks and two strikeouts. Offensively, the Vikings gathered six hits, led by junior Molly Hendrickson who was 2-for-3.
