ALBANY - Freshman Alicia Monahan drove in a pair of runs in a three-run second inning and freshman Jessica Treuthardt blanked Albany on three hits to lead the Orioles to a 5-0 win in a Six Rivers East Conference game Tuesday.
Senior Jodi Fischer walked three times and hit a triple for Argyle. Katie Krupke went the distance for Albany, giving up just two earned runs, but took the loss.
"At times, Katie pitched a great game. Our defense was solid and got us out of jams, but they put the hits together," Albany head coach Connie Wunschel said.
Albany welcomes Black Hawk Thursday, while and Argyle will host Barneveld.
Monticello 11, Black Hawk 1
MONTICELLO - Junior Karlie Klossner allowed just two hits and shutout Black Hawk over the final five innings. The Ponies scored seven unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Leading 4-1, the Ponies got a bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning to drive in a run followed by Tanya Smith's two-run single, to increase the lead to 7-1. Jordan Kubly's RBI single was the highlight of the Ponies' four-run sixth inning to close out the win.
Freshman Marissa Berg went 3 for 4 and Klossner went 2 for 3 with a double to lead Monticello. Freshman Jen Wellnitz was 1 for 3 for Black Hawk.
Monticello (4-0, 1-0 Six Rivers East) will host Evansville in a non-conference game Thursday.

BRODHEAD - Brodhead senior Erika Stampfli tossed a one-hit shutout to lead the Cardinals.
Stampfli pitched a complete game and struck out 16. The Cardinals opened the game with a three-run first inning.
Brodhead had just four hits, but took advantage of four East Troy walks and three errors. The Cardinals were led by Taurie Burns who was 2 for 3 with two runs scored.
Shullsburg-Benton 9, Darlington 4
SHULLSBURG - Shullsburg-Benton took advantage of 10 errors committed by the Darlington Redbirds to claim a non-conference win Tuesday.
Shullsburg-Benton scored twice in the fifth inning and six times in the sixth to snap a 1-1 tie and take a 9-1 lead. The Redbirds got three runs in the seventh inning to draw closer but it wasn't enough.
Anna Monson had two of Darlington's four hits and Hailey Heins had four of the Redbirds' eight stolen bases in a losing effort.
Darlington's next game is Thursday at Boscobel.
