Orioles handle Broncos

ARGYLE - Jessica Treuthardt led Argyle to a 4-2 win over visiting Orangeville, as the senior performed well on both sides of the ball. In six innings of work, the Orioles ace struck out eight batters, while allowing only five hits and zero walks. At the plate, Treuthardt finished 1-for-3, with a double to help her cause on the mound.

The Orioles scored three of their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and again scored a run in the sixth.

"Our team played really well," Argyle coach Heidi Ganshert said. "We never gave up, and that's good considering that Orangeville is a good team. We're focusing in here on each and every game, hoping to end on a strong note in preparation for the playoffs."

Hannah Saalsaa finished 1-for-2 with a double.



Pecatonica 9,

New Glarus 2

BLANCHARDVILLE - Julia Meyer and her Pecatonica softball team earned their third win on the season by picking up a 9-2 non-conference victory over the visiting Knights.

In her final home performance as a Viking, the senior hurler worked all seven innings, allowing three hits, one walk, and eight strikeouts to lead her team to victory.

"It was nice to see her have a good game at the end of the year," Pecatonica coach Chuck Meyer said. "As a senior that's how you want it to be."

Helping Meyer out on the mound were teammates Emily Scoville, Kailee Schraepfer and Sami Miller who gave the Vikings additional run support with a four-run sixth inning after already leading 5-2. Scoville finished 3-for-3, with a double and four RBIs, while Schraepfer finished 3-for-4 with a double and Miller was 2-for-4.



Monticello 4, Belleville 1

BELLEVILLE - Clare Gietzel had three hits to help the Ponies beat Belleville 4-3 in a non-conference game.

Monticello and Belleville were tied at 1 heading into the seventh inning. The Ponies scored three runs in the seventh to pull off the comeback win. Gietzel went 3-for-4 and freshman Jessie Garrison was 2-for-3. Monticello senior Marissa Berg was 2-for-4.

Monticello senior Claire Bruns earned the win on the mound. Bruns pitched a complete game and gave up one run on two hits. She struck out three and walked one.



Southwestern 6, Darlington 5

DARLINGTON - The Redbirds battled back from a three-run deficit, but lost a heartbreaker to Southwestern 6-5.

Southwestern scored three runs in the first inning to jump out to an early lead. The Redbirds scored two in the second and two runs in the fourth to cut the Wildcats' lead to 5-4.

Darlington's Megan Wiegel went 4-for-4 to lead the Redbirds. Taylor Cox went 2-for-3 and Payton Ray was 2-for-5 for the Redbirds.

Darlington pitcher Jena Foulker pitched 6 2/3 innings and gave up five earned runs on 14 hits. She struck out three and walked two.
