OREGON - The first conference win of the season is still an elusive one for the Monroe Cheesemakers. The Oregon Panthers swept the Cheesemakers in three games, 25-19, 25-21, 25-22 Thursday in Badger South play.
Sophomore Taylor Barrett and junior Sadie Swenson were the offensive leaders for Monroe with eight and seven kills, respectively. The Cheesemakers also got 14 assists from junior Heather Barta and 17 digs from junior defensive specialist Ashley Curtis.
"We were definitely with them (Oregon) in the first game," Monroe coach Danya Ward said. "We started slow in the second game. Game three was pretty intense. It was a step in the right direction for us."
Monroe (0-5 Badger South) will travel to Madison Edgewood Thursday.
