OREGON - Charlie Soul scored a team-high 15 points and Oregon continued its recent dominance over the Monroe High School boys basketball team as the Panthers edged the Cheesemakers 43-37 Friday night.

"It was absolutely a grind," Monroe coach Pat Murphy said. "It wasn't always pretty. I thought on defense we did a pretty decent job. I thought we did more right than wrong. For most of the game, we were gritty and gutty."

Monroe (1-5, 1-3 Badger South) is just 1-7 against the Panthers the past three years.

"They (Oregon) have had our number the last three years," Murphy said.

The Cheesemakers made 14 field goals compared to the Panthers' 12. However, Oregon (5-2, 1-3) made three 3-pointers, and the Cheesemakers made just one 3-pointer.

Monroe junior Carter Sawdey scored a game-high 16 points, and senior Brent Edmunds added eight points.

Oregon senior Alex Duff added 11 points. Duff was coming off a 27-point outburst in a 62-55 win over DeForest on Tuesday.

Monroe will enter a four-game home stretch next week. The Cheesemakers will host Janesville Parker on Tuesday.
