OREGON - The Monroe boys tennis team lost a dual match to Oregon 7-0 Thursday.

"This match was a good reality check for us after our win against Stoughton last week," Monroe coach Matt Bordner said. "Tennis the type of sport where consistency pays off and Oregon was steady all match long. We showed flashes of good tennis, but struggled with Oregon's aggressiveness and how well they keep the ball in play. Even though we lost all seven matches, I think all of our guys walk away with some positives and some points and games they won."

With the loss, Monroe drops to 1-1 in the Badger South Conference.

Oregon's Sean Bychowsky, at No. 1 singles, defeated Monroe sophomore Daniel Adamo 6-1, 6-2. Oregon's Zak Rosko,s at No. 2, singles defeated Monroe freshman Bo Bahler 6-1, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, the Panthers' Tanner Hake topped Cheesemaker freshman Christopher Andraski 6-4, 6-2. Oregon's Henry Wiedeman beat Monroe sophomore Landon Knobel 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 4 singles match.

"I was really proud of our singles guys, as they battled a lot of tough points out against guys that have much more experience than ours," Bordner said.

The Panthers' No. 1 doubles team of Kyle Rehrauer and Dan Koopman defeated Monroe juniors Evan Thompson and Nick Schumacher 6-0, 6-2. At No. 2 doubles, Oregon's Jacob Ayers and Dan Koopman knocked off Monroe's David Keegan and Nick Quinn 6-2, 6-2. Sean Benet and Ashton Meyers of Oregon at No. 3 doubles topped Monroe's Wade Sweeney and Luke Quinn 6-1, 6-2.

"Our doubles teams found out what it was like to play against opponents that were even more aggressive than our guys," Bordner said. "Oregon did a nice job of controlling the net at doubles which gives us room for improvement moving forward."
