BELLEVILLE - Chase Norton went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Pecatonica baseball team to a 9-2 non-conference victory against Belleville on Thursday.
The junior's bases-loaded, two-out double in the second inning drove in the first two runs for Pecatonica (1-1). Junior Jake Scoville also had two of the Vikings' seven hits.
Senior Matt Goldthorpe needed just 71 pitches to shut down Belleville on four hits. Goldthorpe allowed two earned runs, walked none and recorded five strikeouts.
Fennimore 12, Darlington 1
DARLINGTON - Darlington had just three hits and Fennimore rolled to an 8-0 lead after two innings in spoiling Matt Austin's coaching debut with the Redbirds. Senior Tyler Black started for the Redbirds and gave up eight runs on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
