Noriega, Erickson repeat as champs

MONROE - Willie Noriega and Kelsey Erickson repeated as Monroe Parks and Rec Mixed Doubles tournament champions Sunday, Aug. 4.

Noriega and Erickson defeated Frank Meier and Jill Swanton Belardi of Grafton 6-4, 6-3. This was Erickson's third straight championship. She won the title with Dan Hager two years ago.

Belardi graduated in 1996 from MHS and played on the girls tennis team.

Monroe's Mark Jensen and Emily Grossen took third place, defeating Silas Setterstrom and Paige Prien 6-4, 6-3.

Consolation honors went to the brother-sister combination of Jeremy and Chelsea Miller, as they defeated Austin Lewey and Eva Priewe 7-5, 6-3.

Noriega and Erickson knocked off Setterstrom and Prien 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals to reach the championship match.
