MILTON - Sophomore point guard Sydney Hilliard scored a game-high 23 points to help the Monroe High School girls basketball team cruise to a 66-41 win over Milton on Thursday.

Milton (7-4, 1-2) entered the game on a six-game winning streak.
"They (Milton) were on a pretty good stretch," Monroe coach Sam Mathiason said. "They have been playing well. They play scrappy, press and don't give you anything easy. I thought we played at a pace that was good for us."
The Red Hawks made 14 of 21 free throws compared to the Cheesemakers, who shot 7 of 8 from the foul line.
"I thought we did a good job of limiting their driving opportunities," Mathiason said. "I thought we did a good job of keeping them out of the lane. Offensively, we were just able to get a lot of opportunities in the post and inside."
Monroe led by more than 30 points at one point in the second half.
Milton's Bailee Collins scored a team-high nine points.
Monroe will host Delavan-Darien at 4 p.m. Saturday.
