SOUTH WAYNE - The Black Hawk Warriors used a 26-15 advantage in the second and third quarters to take down the Potosi Chieftains, 51-41 in a non-conference game Monday. Black Hawk, ranked No. 2 in Division 5, held a 24-19 lead at halftime and extended their lead to 36-26 after three quarters. In the fourth quarter, the Warriors limited the Chieftains to just two field goals.

Sophomore Jen Wellnitz racked up 19 points for the Warriors and senior Kate Quinn added 17 points for Black Hawk.

"We got Jen out in space a bit more and let her attack," said Black Hawk head coach Mike Flanagan, referring to a halftime adjustment. "We're still figuring things out. We've got kids adjusting to new roles."

Ashley Flesch led Potosi (1-2) with 16 points. Black Hawk won despite a tough night at the free throw line, where the Warriors went 12 of 30.

Black Hawk (3-0) will host Monticello Friday.
