BLANCHARDVILLE - Senior Brooks Chandler went 3-for-3 and junior A.J. Hendrickson pitched a complete game five-hitter to lead Pecatonica to a 6-2 win over Southwestern in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal on Tuesday.

With the win, Pecatonica (24-1), ranked No. 1 in the WisSports.net Division 4 coaches' poll, advances to host Shullsburg-Benton in a regional championship game at 5 p.m. today.

"The regular season is a different animal than the postseason," Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen said. "There is more a sense of urgency from teams. Our mantra is to do whatever it takes to advance."

Hendrickson pitched a complete game and gave up two runs on five hits. He struck out seven and didn't issue a walk. The Wildcats scored two runs off Hendrickson in the third.

"He had some trouble getting his curveball over in the third," Strommen said of Hendrickson. "He made an adjustment and was in command the rest of the game."

The Vikings had nine hits and scored at least one run in the first four innings to jump out to a 5-2 lead. Pecatonica senior Gavin Burdick went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and two RBI. Freshman teammate Colton Schraepfer was 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI.

"We hit the ball up and down the lineup," Strommen said. "They (Southwestern) played some good defense to keep it within reach."
