SOUTH WAYNE - Natalie Leuzinger scored 25 points to lead the unbeaten and top-ranked Black Hawk Warriors to a 21-point nonconference win over Division 3's sixth-ranked team.
"Natalie got to the rim," Black Hawk coach Mike Flanagan said. "I think this was one of her best games she's played in a long time."
Leuzinger, the Six Rivers' top 3-point shooter, hit just one 3 in the contest. As a team, the Warriors connected on just five shots from distance.
"Maddy Huschitt hit two big 3s for us," Flanagan said. "We're glad to have her back from injury. She brings a lot to the table."
Platteville (16-3), ranked sixth in the WisSports.net Coaches Poll in Division 3 and seventh in the AP poll, had just eight turnovers in the game. Considering Black Hawk
(20-0, No. 1 in WisSports/AP polls) is known for its smothering press and defensive pressure, which Flanagan said was a testament to the Hillmen staying calm and collected.
"They played well under pressure and were getting the ball into the half court. We were just able to influence their shot," Flanagan said. "(Platteville has) two starters that are 6-footers, and another one off the bench. That's a credit to how hard our girls worked."
Hannah Butler scored 10 points for Black Hawk, Bailey Butler added 9 and Huschitt finished with 7. Sami Martin, a 6-1 post player, led Platteville with 16 points.
"I thought we did a really good job with shot selection. I felt like we played well in the half court," Flanagan said. "We got contributions from so many kids. It's nice to move to 20-0 and do it against a really, really good team."
