MONROE - As the final regular season tournaments come to an end, some Monroe Mat Rats got in one more tournament before regionals begins.
In Verona, nine wrestlers competed in eight-man brackets. Second places went to Max Patterson, 2003-2004; Cole Murray, 1999-2000, and Mckenzy Foley for 1997-1998. Bodie Minder in 2001-2002 and Traiten Gorr 1997-1998, received third place. Garret Grossen took fifth place in 2001-2002. Lukas Andersen 2001-2002, Timothy Andersen and Dempzy Foley both 1999-2000 took seventh place.
In Dodgeville for the kindergarten through second grade brackets, Dayne Garwell took first, Brady Schuh and Christian Schuh took second and Allen Wand took third. In the third and fourth grade brackets, Patrick Rielly took first and Luke Dubach took second.
Roderick Rath traveled to Seymour and placed fourth in the K-2 bracket.
On Saturday March 10 will kick of the WWF Kids Folkstyle Regionals wrestling for area wrestlers. The Monroe Mat Rats will be attending the Oregon Regional Tournament this year for a chance to compete at the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation Kids Folkstyle State Youth Wrestling Tournament held at the Alliant Energy Center, Veterans Memorial Coliseum March 23-24.
