Nine area wrestlers head to state

MONROE - Five Monroe Mat Rats and four wrestlers from the Brodhead Wrestling Club are state bound.

Monroe's Luke Dubach (2003-04), Patrick Rielly (01-02), Cole Murray (1999-00), Mckenzy Foley (97-98) and Traiten Gorr (97-98) will compete at the Folkstyle state tournament at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center March 23-24. The wrestlers earned their state bids by finishing high at the Oregon regional.

Alex Witt and Bodie Minder (2001-02) took third place and will be alternates if a wrestler in their bracket can't wrestle.

The Brodhead Wrestling Club qualified four of their 13 wrestlers for state. The four state qualifiers include second grader Cole Hoesly, who took first place, second grader Shyleigh Condon, first place; and second grader Brady Malkow, second place. Sixth grader Kaleb Erb was the other Brodhead wrestler to qualify for state. Erb finished in second place to advance.
