NGM picks up big win

POYNETTE - The Glarner Knights climbed out of a 13-0 hole to beat previously undefeated Poynette Friday.

Poynette scored a pair of touchdowns by Adam Ray in the first half to take the two-score lead, but a 1-yard run by New Glarus-Monticello quarterback Lukas Kolasch made it 13-7 just before halftime.

The two teams traded field goals in the third quarter, with Ray connecting from 32 yards and Tyler Dorn hitting a 22-yarder for the Knights. In the fourth, Kolasch capped the comeback with a 15-yard run with 3:41 remaining.

Poynette's last offensive drive ended with a fumble near midfield.

New Glarus-Monticello (4-0) had 232 rushing yards and 79 passing yards in the game, compared to just 189 total yards by Poynette (3-1).

Tyler Dorn had 151 yards on 21 carries for the Glarner Knights and Kolasch added 51 yards on 11 carries.

Prior to the contest, the Knights were ranked 14th in the Associated Press small school division poll and 15th in the WisSports.net Division 4 Coaches Poll. Poynette was ninth in the WisSports.net Division 5 poll.

Brodhead-Juda 21, Evansville 8

EVANSVILLE - The Cardinals battered their way past the Blue Devils to get back to .500 in both their conference and over records Friday.

Brodhead-Juda (2-2, 1-1) scored early in the second quarter when quarterback David Earleywine connected with Michael Peterson on a 19-yard touchdown pass.

Then, with six seconds left in the half, Earleywine capped a 19-play drive with a 3-yard plunge into the end zone.

Jesse Delorme made it 21-0 with a 4-yard scamper early in the fourth to put Evansville away for good.

The Blue Devils' only score came on a 79-yard pass play with 7:03 left.

Delorme led the way on the ground for the Cardinals, gaining 94 yards on 21 carries. Brodhead-Juda had 239 yards rushing in the game and added 61 passing yards, totaling an even 300-yard offensive output. The defense held Evansville to just 179 total yards.

Lakeside Lutheran 48, Belleville-Albany 0

LAKE MILLS - The Wildcats found themselves down big early on as Lakeside Lutheran scored 27 points in the first quarter. By halftime, Belleville-Albany's deficit stood at 41-0, allowing a running clock throughout the second half.

The Wildcats collected just three first downs and 91 total yards of offense. Lakeside Lutheran ran for 305 yards and passed for another 172, collecting 17 touchdowns in the game.

In other area action, Pecatonica-Argyle defeated Highland 42-12.
