NEW GLARUS - The New Glarus boys basketball team will keep its grip on first place in the Capitol South Conference after running away with a 79-57 win over Wisconsin Heights on Saturday.
New Glarus sophomore Jaden Kreklow scored a game-high 27 points and knocked down four of the Glarner Knights' seven 3-pointers. With the win, New Glarus improves to 12-3, 5-0 Capitol South.
"We never expect one guy to carry our team," New Glarus coach Travis Sysko said. "Jaden had the hot hand (Saturday) and he has the last couple of games."
New Glarus junior Cullen Brooks scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half. The Knights shot 72.2 percent from the free-throw line (13 of 18). Junior teammate Dishawn Gale added 10 points and sophomore Trevor Gassman drilled three 3-pointers for nine points.
"Trevor really got us going with three 3-pointers in the first half," Sysko said. "We are getting contributions from a lot of different guys which is nice to see."
Austin Wolfe scored a team-high 16 points for Wisconsin Heights. With the loss, Wisconsin Heights drops to 6-7, 4-1.
