NEW GLARUS - The New Glarus boys basketball team stormed back from a 20-point deficit before the rally came up short in a 67-59 loss to 10th-ranked Marshall Tuesday.
New Glarus junior Austin Schlueter scored a team-high 15 points and junior Gavin Binger added 14 points. Junior teammate Trey Taylor scored eight of his 13 points in the fourth quarter as the Glarner Knights outscored the Cardinals 28-22. New Glarus senior Tanner Hofer also scored eight points in the fourth quarter to spark the Knights.
The Knights (7-11, 3-4 Capitol South) cut Marshall's lead to 56-51 in the fourth quarter.
"They (Marshall) made their free throws down the stretch," New Glarus coach Travis Sysko said. "The boys kept fighting and made a game of it. This game has kind of been a snapshot of our season. I think we are capable of playing with anyone in the area. We haven't been as consistent game to game and quarter to quarter."
