MADISON - Her season may be over, but Edgewood College forward Megan Scheele continues to add to her accolades.

The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced Tuesday its finalists for the 2009 State Farm Coaches' All-America Basketball Team. Scheele, a New Glarus graduate, is among 42 finalists from eight regions in NCAA Division III vying to be selected to the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.

The State Farm Coaches' All-America Team will be announced March 19 at the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Banquet in Holland, Mich.

Scheele, already an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American First Team choice, is Edgewood College's most decorated player, finishing as the school's all-time leading scorer with 2,120 career points and second on the all-time rebounds list with 1,047.

She reached 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds on the same night, Feb. 12, becoming the ninth player in Division III to reach both milestones. Scheele also was a finalist for this year's Jostens Trophy, awarded to the most outstanding men's and women's Division III basketball player. It was announced Thursday that Melanie Auguste of Colorado College and Jimmy Bartolotta of MIT were this year's winners. Scheele enjoyed her second straight nomination for the prestigious award.

The senior is coming off her second consecutive NAC Player of the Year award after leading the Eagles to a 19-7 overall record and a 15-2 conference mark. She joins Julia Herssig of UW-Stout, Mackenzie Hunter of UW-La Crosse, Tiffany Morton of UW-Whitewater and Claire Sheehan of Illinois Wesleyan as Region 7 finalists for this year's State Farm All-America Team.
