NEW GLARUS - Columbus fouled New Glarus senior Karina Moen at the buzzer in overtime.

With Columbus clinging to a two-point lead, the Knights' chance of forcing double overtime came up just short as Moen missed the first free throw and the Cardinals clipped New Glarus 46-44 in overtime. It's the second last-second and heartbreaking loss for New Glarus (1-4), which lost a last-second game to Black Hawk last week.

Columbus (3-2) took the lead after grabbing an offensive rebound on a missed free throw and then scoring late in the fourth quarter.

"We had a lot of opportunities to win it," New Glarus coach Megan Scheele said. "We didn't box out and they got an offensive rebound and scored."

New Glarus sophomore Vanessa Narverson scored a team-high 14 points and senior Courtney Feller added nine points. Seniors Sierra Watrud and Mandi Sargent each chipped in eight.

"We are still coming together," Scheele said. "We have to box out and take care of the basketball. We have faith in them as coaches. They just have to do it."
