MAZOMANIE - The New Glarus High School softball team came through with runners in scoring position Thursday and clipped Wisconsin Heights 4-3.
The Glarner Knights sealed the win with two runs in the fifth inning. New Glarus junior Grace Moen had an RBI double to score Kelly Fredrickson. Junior Lydia Sprecher followed with an RBI single.
Moen went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. Fredrickson also scored two runs.
New Glarus sophomore Riley Parker pitched a complete game to get the win. She gave up three earned runs on nine hits. Parker struck out five and walked four.
Black Hawk 8, Shullsburg Benton 2
SOUTH WAYNE - Senior Abby Baumgartner went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI to propel the Warriors to an 8-2 win over Benton-Shullsburg, which jumped out to a 2-0 lead after three innings.
The Warriors tied the game with a two-run fourth. Black Hawk took the lead for good with a five-run fifth.
Black Hawk sophomore Hannah Herbst went 2-for-4, and junior Sam Lovelace had a double and one RBI.
Black Hawk senior Rachel Ritschard pitched a complete game to notch the win. She didn't give up an earned run on three hits. Ritschard struck out eight and walked one.
Big Foot 12, Brodhead 6
BRODHEAD - Senior Morgan Stalker had four hits, and sophomore Yesenia Gonzalez had two hits and three RBI to lead Big Foot over Brodhead.
Big Foot scored three runs in the third and three runs in the fourth innings to take a commanding 7-0 lead. The Cardinals rallied with a four-run sixth but the Chiefs put the game away with two runs in the seventh.
Brodhead junior Ali Rosheisen had two RBI.
Brodhead sophomore Azzy Steiner pitched a complete game and gave up 12 runs on 13 hits. She struck out 11.
The Cardinals committed four errors.
Belmont 21, Pecatonica 4
BLANCHARDVILLE - Senior Nikki Knebel went 3-for-4 with four RBI to power the Braves past Pecatonica.
Belmont had 10 hits and took advantage of the Vikings' five errors.
Pecatonica senior Clara Moen went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Senior Kelsey Chrostowski went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored.
Pecatonica sophomore pitcher Nina McKeon pitched five innings and gave up 13 earned runs on 10 hits. She struck out four and walked 14.
