Muranyi launches junior golf foundation

MONROE - Mike Muranyi, former Monroe Country Club PGA professional, launched the Mike Muranyi Junior Golf Foundation and will offer 25 junior golf scholarships to the Monroe Country Club for area golfers.

The goal of the foundation is to foster and promote junior golf in Green County by providing golf memberships, instruction and educational scholarships to youth age 9 to 18. The foundation is providing funding for 25 junior golf memberships with full privileges at the Monroe Country Club beginning Saturday and ending June 19, 2011.

Applications are available online at, www.monroecountryclub.com; or at the Monroe Country Club's golf shop, 2205 E. 21st St. Applications must be submitted to the Monroe Country Club's golf shop by today. The foundation kick-off event is 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Monroe Country Club.

The foundation is covering $120 of the annual $220 Monroe Country Club junior golf membership cost. The foundation is funding the entire $220 membership cost for students enrolled in their school district's free or reduced meal program. For those in need of golf equipment it is available for an annual fee of $20.
