Monticello outlasts Albany

ALBANY - Monticello sophomore Miah Brokopp had five kills, 23 assists and eight aces to propel the Ponies to a four-set win over Albany on Tuesday.

Monticello (2-3, 1-2 Six Rivers East) outlasted Albany to win the first set 25-22 and escaped with a 25-21 win in the second set. The Comets edged the Ponies 26-24 to take the third set. Monticello pulled out a 25-20 win in the fourth set to win the match.

Monticello junior Hannah Zanow had a team-high eight kills. Junior Alyssen Noriega had 46 digs, and Maggie Block had three blocks.

Albany was led by junior Libby Beck who racked up 10 kills and five aces. Junior Sydney Bloedel had 17 assists, and senior Hailey Stafanik had a team-best 26 digs. Senior Haley Freitag added three blocks.

Albany drops to 0-2 in the Six Rivers East.



Argyle 3, Black Hawk 1

SOUTH WAYNE - Argyle senior Ashley Bruehlman had a match-high 25 kills to help the Orioles outlast Black Hawk 18-25, 25-10, 27-25, 25-11.

Bruehlman added 15 digs and three aces to lead Argyle (5-0, 3-0 Six Rivers East).

Argyle junior Jena Saalsaa racked up 18 kills, 15 digs, two blocks and a team-best six aces. Junior Kirsten Ostby dished out 38 assists and junior Jadyn Saalsaa had a team-high 17 digs.

For Black Hawk (2-1), freshman Bailey Butler had a team-best 13 kills, and senior Hannah Herbst racked up 16 assists. Junior Sydney Delzer posted three blocks, and junior Savanna Burmeister had three aces.



Waterloo 3, New Glarus 0

WATERLOO - The Glarner Knights were swept in a Capitol South Conference match against Waterloo 25-11, 25-0, 25-18.

New Glarus senior Willow Lee had a team-high five kills. Senior Riley Parker had four assists, and senior Caitlin Weiser added four digs.

New Glarus drops to 0-7, 0-2 Capitol South.
